Mahindra Swaps Corporate Gear for Community Spirit: A Day at Kutumela Molefe Primary At Mahindra, making a difference goes far beyond the showroom floor. On a bright Saturday morning, a vibrant team of 26 volunteers from Mahindra Head Office traded their corporate wear for casual clothes, rolled up their sleeves, and headed out for a heartwarming day of community service at Kutumela Molefe Primary School. Armed with paint buckets, brushes, and boundless enthusiasm, the Mahindra team arrived early to find the school in desperate need of some TLC. Cracked walls, faded colors, and worn-out classrooms were met with determination and smiles as the team set to work. The project was clear: bring color, life, and positivity back into the classrooms—and that’s exactly what they did. The school grounds soon echoed with laughter and teamwork as the volunteers painted seven classrooms and a double-classroom block. Under the warm sun, what began as a modest mission quickly turned into a vibrant celebration of community, connection, and change. By the end of the day, what stood before them was a transformed school—a fresh coat of paint, a renewed sense of pride, and a symbol of hope for the learners who would soon walk through those doors. The gratitude from the school community was immediate and heartfelt. Teachers and staff expressed their appreciation, and students sent a collective “thumbs up” and a huge thank you to the Mahindra team. As the volunteers returned to their offices, paint-splattered but proud, there was a shared sense of joy and accomplishment. November 8, 2018, Johannesburg: Mahindra crowned its Tekfest Champions at its national competition in Gauteng on 24 October 2018. Tekfest is Mahindra’s global competition for technical personnel and service advisors. It combines various rounds of online and in-person evaluations to select South Africa’s best technical specialists. For the South African round of the competition, Mahindra sifted through all its technical personnel with various online evaluation modules. The top performers in these online tests were invited to compete at a regional level, with the best of the best competing in theoretical and practical tests at the National Training and Development Centre at the end of October. “The standard of competition at all levels was very high, so it is a singular achievement to make it to the national Tekfest championship,” says Pratyush Bose, Head of After Sales for Mahindra South Africa. Technicians from all over the country competed in 18 different categories in three different specialist fields – technicians, diagnostic technicians and service advisors. Etienne Cockrel of Mahindra Welkom won the Tekfest Technicians Championship, with Donovan Harmse from Mahindra Lydenburg coming a close second. In the category for Tekfest Service Advisors, Jeremy King from Mahindra Burgersdorp won the Championship, followed by Graham Moore (Mahindra Kimberley) and Elize Janse van Rensburg from Mahindra Bloemfontein. Of the Tekfest Diagnostic (cotek) Technicians, Etienne Jacobs of Mahindra Nelspruit took home the grand prize, followed by Auryn Nicholas of Mahindra Brits and Hein Nel of Mahindra Bloemfontein. “It is very heartening to see technicians and service advisors from so many different dealerships compete at the national championship,” says Rajesh Gupta, CEO of Mahindra South Africa. “It is testament to the high standard of the technical staff throughout our network of more than 60 dealers.” Gupta explains that Mahindra is investing heavily in its local technical capacity to support its local assembly facility in KwaZulu-Natal. “Our local assembly facility in the Dube TradePort outside Durban has given us the mandate to invest even more in our technical skills. Over time, we will see South Africa becoming a very large regional hub for Mahindra and we will support the technical needs of this expanding local production from South Africa.” It is with this goal in mind that Mahindra will send its top Tekfest Champions to compete with Mahindra technicians from other countries in the regional championship for the African continent. The best performing technical specialists in these rounds will be invited to compete in the global competition to be hosted in India.

The New KUV100 NXT packs more style, high-tech features and more value One of South Africa’s popular A-segment SUVs – the Mahindra KUV100 NXT – is set to become even more popular, thanks to additional new features and styling upgrades on the 2018 model. “The New KUV 100 NXT offers an excellent value proposition of space along with safety features such as airbags and ABS from the base variant onwards. With a very affordable price, coupled with an attractive finance and insurance offer, this variant is expected to generate significant interest amongst the first-time buyers,” says Rajesh Gupta, CEO of Mahindra South Africa. New look, bolder stance The New KUV100 NXT enters the market with a bold new look, which includes a new grille, larger alloy wheels on the K8 variant and redesigned tail lamps. The redesigned seven-slot grille appears to be more aggressive, and the number plate now sits atop a blacked-out bumper section; there is also a new silver skid plate to emphasise the KUV’s SUV-family genes. Mahindra has also created new blacked-out surrounds for the integrated fog lights, which are standard on the K8 variant. On the flanks, the new 15” diamond-cut dual-tone alloy wheels on the K8 sit in flared wheel arches that now feature redesigned cladding. On the roof, the integrated roof rails have been redesigned to be more aerodynamically efficient. Some of the most popular styling cues on The New KUV100 NXT, the fist-shaped side mirrors and the rear door handles in the C-pillars, have been retained, although the mirrors now incorporate the side turn signals. At the rear, the tail gate and rear bumper have been completely redesigned. The rear tail gate features deeper character lines that form around brand-new double-barrel rear combination lights and a new electronic latch on certain models. The headlights are now equipped with LED daytime running lights. The restyled rear bumper mirrors the trapezoidal design of the front bumper, with new integrated reflectors and a silver skid plate. Rounding off the rear design is a new tail-gate spoiler which was aerodynamically tested. More premium interior, more specifications The New KUV100 NXT upgrade continues inside the new model, where Mahindra has added new premium finishes to the higher-specification models. This includes new fabric upholstery, piano black detailing on certain specification levels and a new temperature control panel on models fitted with climate control. The New KUV100 NXT now also has a 7” (17.8 cm) touch screen on the K8 variant, which replaces the previous 3.5” display. This infotainment system is equipped with Bluetooth connectivity, a USB port and audio, image and video playback. Other luxury additions include a new remote boot-opening switch, a new gearshift indicator display, Intellipark reverse parking sensors and electrically foldable side mirrors on the K8. The additional luxury specifications on The New KUV100 NXT only add to its already impressive list of features such as power windows, tilt-adjustable power steering, air conditioning, central locking rear underfloor storage bins and foldable rear seats. On K6 and K8 models, this list of creature comforts grows to include a rear row armrest, a cooled glove box, follow-me-home and lead-me-to-vehicle headlights, remote keyless entry, speed-sensing door locks and front and rear 12V power outlets. High safety and security standards across the range In keeping with Mahindra’s family-friendly nature, all variants of the KUV are equipped with dual front airbags, child safety locks on the rear doors, ABS with EBD (EBD available only on K6+ and K8 variants) and corner braking control (CBC). In addition, the K6+ and K8 versions of The New KUV100 NXT also have speed-sensing automatic door locks, automatic hazard warnings in emergency situations and a security alarm. Petrol and turbodiesel power The KUV100 NXT is available with the choice of two three-cylinderall-aluminium engines. The 1.2 mFalcon G80 petrol engine is equipped with multi-point fuel injection and dual-variable valve timing to deliver 61 kW and 115 Nm of torque. The 1.2 mFalcon D75 turbodiesel engine has common rail direct injection and an intercooler to deliver 57 kW and a generous 190 Nm of torque, with the latter peaking between 1 750 rpm and 2 250 rpm. On the K8 specification level, the diesel model is equipped with a micro-hybrid system that switches off the engine when the vehicle is not moving and immediately restarts the engine when the accelerator is pressed. Both engines drive the front wheels of the KUV100 through a five-speed manual gearbox. SUV-underpinnings refined further A large part of The New KUV100 NXT’s popularity is its SUV-style and functionality. This includes its higher-than-normal 170 mm ground clearance and its equally functional approach and departure angles of just under 22 degrees. Under the sheet metal, the KUV rides on independent McPherson struts suspension with dual path mounts and coil springs. At the rear, the suspension consists of semi-independent twist beams and coil springs, with all four corners also equipped with hydraulic gas-charged shock absorbers. The New KUV100 NXT has a wheelbase of 2.385 metres that has been intelligently utilised to offer seating for five adults and 243 litres of luggage space, which can be increased to 473 litres, with the rear seats folded flat. True value for money With six models in The New KUV100 NXT range, there is bound to be a Mahindra for every taste and budget. All models feature a full 3-year / 100 000 km standard warranty plus a 2-year / 50 000 km powertrain warranty. All K6+ and K8+ models also have a 3-year / 50 000 km service plan as standard. Service intervals for both the petrol and diesel models are 10 000 km and all vehicles have a 3-year roadside assistance plan.

The Stylish New XUV500 muscles up with more features, more options and more comfort The Stylish New Mahindra XUV500 has landed in South Africa, with a fresh new design and a host of new comfort features. Mahindra has also added two new models that are sure to prove popular. The XUV500 W6 Automatic offers a lower entry point for buyers in search of an automatic SUV, while the new XUV500 W10 range-topper offers a new level of luxury and specifications. “The Stylish New XUV500 flagship represents the best of Mahindra’s SUV expertise. It is both capable and comfortable, feature rich and affordable and is styled to attract attention. The new model, with its completely redesigned front and rear styling, and additional features are sure to attract the attention of existing owners and SUV enthusiasts alike,” says Rajesh Gupta, CEO of Mahindra South Africa. First launched in South Africa in 2012, the XUV500 quickly gained popularity among SUV buyers for its combination of style, creature comforts, three-row seating space and an affordable price. It grew further in popularity when Mahindra introduced additional features and upgrades in 2015. Expanded model range and more value While the XUV500 is already known for its incredible value-for-money, Mahindra South Africa has decided to beef up the value offering even more. Striking new design The 2018 Stylish New XUV500 stands out from its predecessors, thanks to completely redesigned front and rear styling. Viewed from the front, the Stylish New XUV500 features a brand-new grille, which reinterprets the marque’s well-known 7-slot design with sharp-cut chrome highlights and a larger chrome surround. The chrome grille surrounds morph into new light-strip daytime running lights at the top of the redesigned headlamps, before flowing vertically down to new fog lamps. The fog lamps, in turn, form part of a redesigned lower bumper, which has been squared off around a lower air intake and now has a silver lower bash plate. The visual updates continue along the side of the XUV500, where Mahindra’s designers have added additional chrome detailing at the lower edges of the doors and redesigned the D-pillar applique. The most dramatic part of Mahindra’s redesign of the Stylish New XUV500 is visible at the rear, where a new tailgate, new combination taillights and a larger roof-mounted rear spoiler present a completely new visual signature. The new angular taillights are split horizontally into two units on each side and replace the previous vertical units. The new lights allowed designers to reimage the rear tail gate, which now features a wider and more prominent number plate enclosure with chrome detailing and integrated reverse camera (on certain models) and new rear reflectors, which follow the diagonal lines created by the taillights. Completing the dramatic new rear design, is a new rear bumper with blacked-out bottom scuff section and dual tail pipes. “We are very happy with the major redesign of the Stylish New XUV500. It creates a brand-new visual signature for our flagship model, without losing any of the XUV character that our customers have come to love,” says Gupta. “We are also proud to say that the interior keeps the promise made by the exterior with a major increase in specifications and comfort features.” Feature rich interiors The Stylish New XUV500 is equipped with an infotainment system, with air conditioning controls or a full climate control system, depending on the model grade. On W8 and W10 variants, this infotainment system also includes a full turn-by-turn satellite navigation system with voice prompts as standard. The infotainment system is connected to a powerful new audio system from the specialists Arkamys. The system also offers USB connectivity, with picture and video viewing functionality on the W8 and W10 variants, Bluetooth hands-free cellphone connectivity and an iPod and AUX connection. Mahindra’s designers further added new chrome detailing, which includes illuminated chrome scuff plates, vertical chrome inserts on the centre console and detailing on the air vents and steering wheel. Also new is the sunroof and a push-button Start/Stop system in the Automatic W10 variants. Like before, the Stylish New XUV500 has one of the longest standard-feature lists in its segment. All variants offer electric windows and side mirrors, a tilt-adjustable steering wheel with electric power assistance, remote boot lid opening, follow-me-home and lead-me-to-vehicle headlamp functionality and foldable second and third row seats. The W6, W8 and W10 models have alloy wheels, cruise control with a multi-functional steering wheel, a conversation mirror (deleted on the W10 with sunroof), reach adjustment to the steering wheel, rain-sensing wipers and automatic headlights, puddle lamps and fully automatic temperature control (FATC). In addition, the W6-grade features premium cloth upholstery. The W6 variant is now available with automatic transmission. The W8 and W10 models are also equipped with a 7” full colour infotainment system with voice commands.
